VBScript (Visual Basic Scripting Edition) is a lightweight, event-driven offshoot of classic Visual Basic used for scripting Internet Explorer, classic ASP pages, and Windows Script Host automation. Bundled with Windows rather than Visual Studio, it offered quick, easy automation for admins and web developers in the late 1990s—but its use today is mostly legacy.
